- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- Assorted frosting and sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in sugar, salt, and egg.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Knead in softened butter until fully incorporated.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and turn onto a lightly floured surface. Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two different sized round cutters.
- Place donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully fry donuts for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Remove donuts from oil and place on a wire rack to drain and cool.
- Once cooled, dip donuts in your favorite frosting and decorate with sprinkles.
