Description
Enjoy these delightfully crispy baked apple chips, a perfect and healthy fall snack. They satisfy your sweet cravings with a hint of cinnamon sugar, making them an irresistible treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples (like Honeycrisp or Fuji), thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Wash and thinly slice the apples. You can leave the skin on for extra nutrients and texture. Remove the core and seeds.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
- Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the apple slices.
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping the slices halfway through, until they are dry and slightly crispy.
- Turn off the oven, leave the oven door ajar, and let the chips cool completely in the oven. This helps them crisp up further.
- Once cooled, store the apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
- For best results, slice the apples as uniformly as possible. A mandoline slicer is helpful for this.
- Baking time may vary depending on the thickness of your apple slices and your oven.
- If you prefer a less sweet chip, reduce the amount of sugar.
