Description

Make a creamy, dairy-free frozen dessert using only three simple ingredients. This recipe requires no ice cream maker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas, peeled and frozen
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Slice the frozen bananas into small chunks. Place the chunks into a strong food processor or high-powered blender.
  2. Pulse the banana pieces until they break down into small crumbs. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. Add the almond milk and vanilla extract. Continue blending, stopping frequently to scrape the sides, until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, resembling soft-serve ice cream. This may take 3 to 5 minutes depending on your machine.
  4. Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1 to 2 hours for a firmer scoopable texture.

Notes

  • For a thicker result, use less liquid initially. Add more milk one tablespoon at a time if the mixture struggles to blend.
  • If you prefer a chocolate flavor, add 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder with the milk.
  • For a peanut butter flavor, add 2 tablespoons of peanut butter during the final blending stage.
