Juicy and flavorful chicken cooked upright on a beer can with a savory herb rub.
Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (about 4 lbs)
- 1 can (12 oz) beer (any type)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp dried rosemary
- 2 tbsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat grill or oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drink or pour out about 1/4 of the beer from the can.
- Combine rosemary, thyme, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
- Rub chicken with olive oil.
- Generously coat chicken with the herb rub inside and out.
- Place chicken over the beer can, inserting the can into the cavity.
- Place chicken on the grill or in a roasting pan in the oven.
- Cook for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Carefully remove chicken from the beer can and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
Notes
- You can use a chicken roasting stand if you prefer not to use a beer can.
- Adjust herbs and spices to your preference.
