Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper (any color)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Burger buns and desired toppings for serving


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mash the black beans with a fork, leaving some whole beans for texture.
  2. Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, garlic, breadcrumbs, ketchup, chili powder, and cumin.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Mix until well combined.
  5. Divide the mixture into two patties.
  6. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Carefully place the patties in the skillet.
  8. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until heated through and browned.
  9. Serve the burgers on buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • You can add other vegetables like shredded carrots or corn to the mixture.
