Description

Follow this simple recipe to make a comforting, creamy baked chicken spaghetti casserole using shredded chicken and a rich sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound spaghetti noodles
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and celery. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, and milk. Heat the mixture until it simmers gently.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the shredded chicken, sour cream, salt, pepper, and 3/4 cup of the cheddar cheese until fully combined.
  6. Fold the cooked spaghetti into the sauce mixture until everything is coated evenly.
  7. Pour the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese and the breadcrumbs over the top.
  9. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream of celery soup for the cream of mushroom soup if you prefer.
  • For a richer flavor, use rotisserie chicken for your shredded chicken.
  • To make this dish ahead of time, assemble the casserole but do not bake. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add 10 minutes to the baking time if baking directly from the refrigerator.
