Description

Make a rich, layered, no-bake dessert featuring a chocolate cookie crust, creamy filling, and a whipped topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer cookie crumbs (about 30 cookies)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
  • 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Chill the crust for 15 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping (about 1/2 cup). Spread this mixture evenly over the chilled crust.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Let it stand for 5 minutes to set further.
  4. Gently spread the pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Top the pudding layer with the remaining half of the first container of whipped topping. If using marshmallows, sprinkle them over this layer.
  6. Cover the pie loosely and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
  7. Before serving, top the pie with the second container of thawed whipped topping. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

Notes

  • You can substitute Oreo cookies for chocolate wafer cookies in the crust.
  • For a firmer filling, you can use a frozen dessert topping instead of whipped topping in the cream cheese layer.
  • If you prefer a baked crust, bake the crumb mixture at 350°F for 10 minutes before cooling and filling.
