Description
Make this rich and creamy ground beef pasta in about 30 minutes. It is a simple, one-pot meal perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 4 cups beef broth
- 8 ounces dried pasta (like penne or rotini)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the diced tomatoes (with their juice) and the beef broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add the dry pasta to the boiling liquid. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute half-and-half for heavy cream for a slightly lighter sauce.
- Use any short pasta shape you prefer for this recipe.
- Stir in a handful of fresh spinach during the last 2 minutes of cooking for added vegetables.
