Description
Make a rich, zesty creamy horseradish sauce at home in minutes. This sauce pairs perfectly with prime rib, roast beef, and steak.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup prepared horseradish, drained
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Combine the sour cream and mayonnaise in a medium bowl.
- Stir in the drained prepared horseradish, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard until fully mixed.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
- Taste the sauce and add more horseradish or lemon juice if you prefer a stronger flavor.
- Cover the bowl and chill the creamy horseradish sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, use only 3/4 cup of sour cream.
- If you use fresh, un-prepared horseradish root, grate 2 tablespoons and use it instead of the prepared version.
- You can substitute plain Greek yogurt for half of the sour cream for a lighter sauce.
