Description

Make a rich, zesty creamy horseradish sauce at home in minutes. This sauce pairs perfectly with prime rib, roast beef, and steak.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish, drained
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine the sour cream and mayonnaise in a medium bowl.
  2. Stir in the drained prepared horseradish, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard until fully mixed.
  3. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
  4. Taste the sauce and add more horseradish or lemon juice if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the creamy horseradish sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, use only 3/4 cup of sour cream.
  • If you use fresh, un-prepared horseradish root, grate 2 tablespoons and use it instead of the prepared version.
  • You can substitute plain Greek yogurt for half of the sour cream for a lighter sauce.
