- 8 slices white bread
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 English cucumber, thinly sliced
- Fresh dill, chopped (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and softened butter until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture onto each slice of bread.
- Arrange the thin cucumber slices in a single layer over the cream cheese mixture on half of the bread slices.
- Season the cucumber with a pinch of salt and pepper, and sprinkle with fresh dill if desired.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down.
- Trim off the crusts from each sandwich.
- Cut each sandwich into halves or quarters.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh, good quality white bread.
- Ensure the cream cheese and butter are well softened for easy spreading.
- Using an English cucumber results in fewer seeds and a more delicate texture.
