Description
You will love this simple, hearty Dorito Casserole. It is a quick weeknight dinner idea that uses ground beef and Nacho Cheese Doritos for a cheesy, crunchy bake the whole family will enjoy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 (9.75 ounce) bag Nacho Cheese Doritos, lightly crushed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cook the ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- Stir in the 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 1 cup of Monterey Jack cheese until combined.
- Gently fold in about two-thirds of the lightly crushed Doritos. Do not overmix; you want some crunch remaining.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the remaining one-third of the crushed Doritos over the top of the casserole mixture.
- Top with the final 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before you serve it.
Notes
- For a Cool Ranch Dorito Casserole variation, substitute the Nacho Cheese Doritos with Cool Ranch Doritos.
- To prevent the topping from getting too soggy, add the final layer of Doritos just before baking.
- You can substitute the ground beef with cooked shredded chicken for a different texture.
- If you want a spicier kick, add a small can of diced green chilies to the soup mixture.
