Description

You will love this simple, hearty Dorito Casserole. It is a quick weeknight dinner idea that uses ground beef and Nacho Cheese Doritos for a cheesy, crunchy bake the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 (9.75 ounce) bag Nacho Cheese Doritos, lightly crushed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix well.
  4. Stir in the 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 1 cup of Monterey Jack cheese until combined.
  5. Gently fold in about two-thirds of the lightly crushed Doritos. Do not overmix; you want some crunch remaining.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining one-third of the crushed Doritos over the top of the casserole mixture.
  8. Top with the final 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden.
  10. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before you serve it.

Notes

  • For a Cool Ranch Dorito Casserole variation, substitute the Nacho Cheese Doritos with Cool Ranch Doritos.
  • To prevent the topping from getting too soggy, add the final layer of Doritos just before baking.
  • You can substitute the ground beef with cooked shredded chicken for a different texture.
  • If you want a spicier kick, add a small can of diced green chilies to the soup mixture.
