Description
Make incredibly tender and juicy steak bites effortlessly in your slow cooker. This set it and forget it recipe uses a simple garlic butter sauce, perfect for a weeknight dinner served over mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place the cubed sirloin steak into the basin of your slow cooker.
- Sprinkle the steak evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Toss gently to coat the steak pieces.
- Pour the beef broth over the steak.
- Scatter the pieces of butter over the top of the steak cubes. Add the minced garlic.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the steak is fork-tender.
- Once cooked, stir everything gently to create a light sauce coating the steak bites.
- Serve the crockpot steak bites immediately over mashed potatoes or rice, and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can sear the steak cubes briefly in a hot skillet before adding them to the slow cooker.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the steak near the end of cooking and mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water, then stir this slurry into the liquid remaining in the slow cooker. Cook on HIGH for 15 minutes until thickened.
- This recipe works well with other cuts like chuck roast, though cooking time may need slight adjustment for maximum tenderness.
