- 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts or thighs into the bottom of your slow cooker.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and easily shreds.
- Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
- Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir it into the remaining sauce until fully coated.
- Serve hot on buns or over rice.
Notes
- For extra smoky flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke to the sauce mixture.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking time on high.
- This recipe works well with chicken thighs for a richer flavor.
