Description
Make fast, crispy mini pizzas using English muffins. This recipe works well in both a standard oven or an air fryer for a quick lunch or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 English muffins, split
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Optional toppings: pepperoni slices, cooked sausage, sliced mushrooms, bell peppers
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the English muffin halves, cut-side up, on a baking sheet or directly in the air fryer basket.
- Lightly toast the muffin halves for 2-3 minutes until they feel slightly firm. This step helps prevent sogginess.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over the surface of each muffin half.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, followed by the Parmesan cheese, over the sauce.
- Add your desired toppings, keeping them light to maintain crispiness.
- Sprinkle with dried oregano.
- Oven Method: Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the muffin are golden brown.
- Air Fryer Method: Cook for 5-7 minutes, checking frequently, until the cheese is melted and the muffin edges are crisp.
- Remove from the heat and let cool for one minute before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, lightly brush the cut side of the muffins with olive oil before adding the sauce.
- Use a thin layer of sauce; too much sauce makes the base soggy.
- You can substitute pizza sauce with pesto or marinara sauce for flavor variations.
