Description
A hearty baked bean dish featuring five different types of beans, bacon, and a sweet molasses sauce.

- 1 pound sliced bacon, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 (15 ounce) cans pork and beans, drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can butter beans, drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can great northern beans, drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can lima beans, drained
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium-high heat until crisp. Drain bacon on paper towels, reserving 2 tablespoons of drippings in the skillet.
- Add onion and green pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in ground mustard, salt, and pepper.
- In a large bowl, combine pork and beans, butter beans, great northern beans, kidney beans, and lima beans. Add cooked bacon, onion mixture, brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, and cider vinegar. Stir to combine.
- Pour bean mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until bubbly and heated through.
Notes
- You can substitute other types of beans based on your preference.
- Adjust the amount of brown sugar and molasses for desired sweetness.
