Description
Learn how to make Fruit Candied Skewers, a sweet and crunchy treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Assorted fruits for skewering (strawberries, grapes, apple chunks, etc.)
- Wooden skewers
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry your chosen fruits. This is important for the candy coating to stick properly.
- Thread the fruits onto the wooden skewers.
- In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water.
- Heat the sugar and water over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring. You can gently swirl the pan if needed.
- Continue to boil until the syrup reaches the hard crack stage (around 300-310°F or 149-154°C). You can test this by dropping a small amount of syrup into cold water; it should form brittle threads.
- Carefully dip each fruit skewer into the hot sugar syrup, coating all sides.
- Allow excess syrup to drip off.
- Place the candied skewers on parchment paper to cool and harden.
- Serve once the candy coating is completely set.
Notes
- Make sure your fruits are very dry.
- Use a candy thermometer for accuracy.
- Work quickly when dipping the fruit as the syrup will cool and harden.
- Be cautious when working with hot sugar syrup.
