Description

Make this easy, creamy garlic parmesan chicken in a skillet for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch thick pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, for topping
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and Italian seasoning. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  7. Reduce heat to low. Stir in 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
  8. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Toss to coat with the creamy sauce.
  9. Cook for 2 minutes until the chicken is heated through.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Serve this dish over pasta, rice, or with steamed vegetables like broccoli or green beans.
  • For a brighter flavor, add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice with the heavy cream.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let it simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes before adding the chicken back.
