Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, pork, or a mix)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, minced garlic, ground ginger, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Roll the mixture into small, uniform balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should have about 20-24 meatballs.
- Bake the meatballs at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
- While the meatballs bake, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and sesame oil.
- Bring the glaze mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Remove the cooked meatballs from the oven. Place them in a large bowl or skillet.
- Pour the warm glaze over the meatballs. Toss gently to coat each meatball completely.
- Serve immediately as an appetizer with toothpicks or over rice for a main course.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can brown the meatballs in a skillet before baking them.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions before serving for a nice presentation.
