Description
Make these rich and decadent Hazelnut Chocolate Truffles at home. They are perfect for gifting or enjoying as a special treat. Follow these simple steps for a taste of heaven.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces good quality dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup toasted, finely ground hazelnuts
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- For coating: Unsweetened cocoa powder or finely chopped nuts
Instructions
- Place the chopped chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl.
- Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just simmers. Do not boil.
- Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes.
- Gently whisk the chocolate and cream mixture until smooth and fully combined.
- Stir in the ground hazelnuts, softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt until the ganache is uniform.
- Cover the bowl and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, or until firm enough to scoop.
- Use a small scoop or spoon to portion out the chilled ganache. Roll each portion quickly between your palms to form small balls.
- Roll the truffles in cocoa powder or chopped nuts to coat evenly.
- Store the finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Toast your hazelnuts lightly before grinding for the best flavor.
- If the ganache becomes too hard to scoop, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes.
- Work quickly when rolling the truffles so the heat from your hands does not melt them completely.
