Description

Learn how to make delicious homemade brown sugar boba milk tea that tastes just like your favorite bubble tea shop! This recipe guides you through cooking chewy tapioca pearls and creating a rich brown sugar syrup to mix with milk and tea for a delightful Taiwanese treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup tapioca pearls
  • 3 cups water (for cooking pearls)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water (for brown sugar syrup)
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 cup brewed black tea, chilled
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Cook the tapioca pearls: Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Add the tapioca pearls and stir. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pearls are chewy and tender. Drain the pearls and rinse with cold water. Set aside.
  2. Make the brown sugar syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture thickens into a syrup. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Assemble the boba tea: In a glass, add a generous amount of cooked tapioca pearls. Drizzle some of the brown sugar syrup over the pearls.
  4. Pour in the milk and chilled black tea.
  5. Add ice cubes.
  6. Stir well and enjoy your homemade brown sugar boba milk tea!

Notes

  • For a stronger tea flavor, use a stronger brewed tea or add more tea.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar syrup.
  • You can use any type of milk you prefer, such as almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk.
  • For best results, use freshly cooked tapioca pearls.
