Description
Make this easy, balanced sauce that combines the cool tang of ranch with the sweet heat of spicy honey. This recipe yields a versatile condiment perfect for dipping or drizzling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup buttermilk ranch dressing (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot or similar)
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- If you do not have pre-made hot honey, create a quick infusion: Gently warm the honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes and let it steep for 5 minutes off the heat. Strain the flakes out if desired, or leave them in for extra texture.
- In a medium bowl, combine the buttermilk ranch dressing, the prepared hot honey (or plain honey if using store-bought hot honey), hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
- Whisk the mixture until completely smooth and well combined.
- Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Whisk again until the spices are fully incorporated.
- Taste the sauce. If you want more heat, add a few drops more hot sauce. If you want more sweetness, add a small amount of plain honey.
- Transfer the sauce to an airtight container. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For storage, keep the sauce sealed in the refrigerator. It maintains good quality for up to one week.
- To adjust the heat level, start with less hot sauce or fewer pepper flakes in the honey infusion. You can always add more heat, but you cannot easily remove it.
- This sauce works well as a dip for chicken tenders, drizzled over roasted vegetables, or used as a zesty dressing for salads.
