Description

Transform your breakfast with this creative Inside-Out Omelet Grilled Cheese! It’s a high-protein twist where a fluffy omelet acts as the ‘bread’ for a classic grilled cheese, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter, divided
  • 2 slices of your favorite bread
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or provolone work well)
  • Optional: Cooked bacon, ham, or sautéed vegetables

Instructions

  1. Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well combined.
  2. Heat 1/2 tablespoon butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until almost set but still slightly wet on top.
  4. Carefully flip the omelet and cook for another 30 seconds. Slide the omelet onto a plate.
  5. Wipe out the skillet and add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon butter.
  6. Place the bread slices in the skillet and top each with cheese.
  7. If using, add optional fillings on top of the cheese.
  8. Once the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown on one side, carefully place the cooked omelet on top of one slice of bread (cheese side up).
  9. Place the other slice of bread on top of the omelet, cheese side down.
  10. Gently press the sandwich together.
  11. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  12. Slice in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a crispier omelet ‘bread’, cook it a little longer until set.
  • Experiment with different cheeses and fillings to customize your omelet grilled cheese.
  • Ensure your skillet is non-stick for easy flipping of the omelet.
