Description

Enjoy a flavorful Korean Beef Bowl (Bulgogi) with tender, marinated beef and a delicious sauce. This easy recipe brings authentic Korean tastes to your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (rice wine)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Optional toppings: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, sliced mushrooms

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, mirin, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated beef to the hot skillet in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Cook the beef for 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
  6. Serve the bulgogi immediately over cooked rice.
  7. Add your favorite optional toppings like green onions, sesame seeds, or mushrooms.

Notes

  • For thinner slices, partially freeze the beef before slicing.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
  • If you don’t have mirin, you can substitute with dry sherry or white wine.
