Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Instructions
- Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, 1 cup peanut butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined.
- Press the peanut butter mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Use the bottom of a glass or a flat measuring cup to get a smooth, even layer.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and 1/4 cup peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the peanut butter layer. Spread evenly to cover the entire surface.
- Refrigerate the bars for at least 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate is firm.
- Once firm, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For a firmer bar, you can increase the amount of chocolate chips slightly.
- If you prefer a sweeter bar, you can add a tablespoon or two of powdered sugar to the chocolate mixture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
