Ingredients

  • 6-8 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the peaches.
  3. Pour the melted butter into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Pour the milk into the dry ingredients and stir until a smooth batter forms.
  6. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  7. Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh, ripe peaches.
  • You can use frozen peaches, but they may release more liquid. Thaw and drain them before using.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
