Description

Enjoy this delightful Pecan Crusted Tilapia. The crunchy pecan coating gives the flaky fish a wonderful texture and nutty flavor. It is a simple yet impressive dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (6 ounce) tilapia fillets
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Prepare the pecan crust: In a shallow dish, mix the chopped pecans with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Set up your breading station: Place the flour in another shallow dish. Place the beaten egg in a third shallow dish.
  4. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.
  5. Dredge each fillet first in the flour, shaking off any excess.
  6. Dip the floured fillet into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off.
  7. Press the fillet firmly into the pecan mixture, coating both sides well.
  8. Place the coated fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle the tops with olive oil.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork and the crust is golden brown.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy your creation!

Notes

  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds for a different nutty flavor.
  • For extra crispiness, you can pan-sear the crusted fillets briefly before baking.
  • Tilapia cooks quickly, so watch carefully to avoid drying it out.
