Pickle Dip Roll-Ups : Amazing Retro Ham & Cheese Pinwheels

  • Author: Alexander Knight
  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 80 pinwheels
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These ham and cheese pickle roll-ups are a delightful retro party snack. They combine creamy cream cheese, savory ham, and tangy dill pickles, all rolled up and sliced into easy-to-eat pinwheels. They are a no-cook appetizer perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill (or 2 teaspoons dried dill weed)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 (6-inch) flour tortillas
  • 16 thin slices deli ham
  • 8 dill pickle spears, drained and patted dry

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with fresh dill, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Lay out the flour tortillas. Spread a thin, even layer of the cream cheese mixture over each tortilla, leaving a small border.
  3. Place two slices of ham on top of the cream cheese on each tortilla, overlapping them slightly.
  4. Lay one dill pickle spear along the edge of the ham on each tortilla.
  5. Tightly roll up each tortilla, starting from the edge with the pickle.
  6. Wrap each rolled tortilla tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  7. Before serving, unwrap the chilled rolls and slice them into 1/2-inch thick pinwheels.
  8. Arrange the pickle dip roll-ups on a serving platter.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cream cheese mixture.
  • If you don’t have fresh dill, dried dill weed works well.
  • Ensure your pickles are well-drained and patted dry to prevent a soggy roll-up.
  • Chill the roll-ups for at least an hour to make slicing easier and cleaner.
