Description
Make a gourmet pizza featuring salty prosciutto, creamy burrata, and a sweet honey drizzle. This recipe focuses on adding delicate toppings after baking for the best texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ball (8 ounces) fresh burrata cheese, drained
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
- 4 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 cup fresh arugula (optional)
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
- Flour, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven and pizza stone or baking sheet to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius) for at least 30 minutes.
- On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll your pizza dough into a 12 to 14-inch circle.
- Brush the dough lightly with olive oil.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust.
- Carefully transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or onto parchment paper placed on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove the pizza from the oven.
- Tear the burrata into large pieces and distribute them over the hot pizza. The residual heat will soften the cheese slightly.
- Arrange the slices of prosciutto over the burrata.
- Drizzle the honey evenly over the entire pizza.
- If using, scatter fresh arugula over the top and finish with a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
- Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- For the best flavor, add the prosciutto and burrata after the crust is baked. Baking burrata makes it melt too much, and prosciutto becomes dry and overly salty when cooked.
- If you prefer a slightly cooked prosciutto flavor, add it during the last 2 minutes of baking, but adding it after is recommended for this style.
- Use a high-quality honey for the best taste in the drizzle.
