Description

Bake up some cozy, seasonal Pumpkin Spiced Donuts. These treats bring the warmth of winter mornings right to your kitchen. You will love the comforting spice blend in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar plus more for coating
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan well.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, pumpkin pie spice, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, pumpkin puree, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until you have a smooth batter. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan cavities, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the donuts cool slightly in the pan, mix sugar and extra pumpkin pie spice in a shallow dish for coating.
  8. Carefully remove the warm donuts from the pan and immediately roll them in the spice sugar mixture until fully coated.
  9. Serve warm for the best cozy experience.

Notes

  • You can substitute buttermilk with regular milk mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of white vinegar, letting it sit for five minutes.
  • For extra flavor, use melted coconut oil instead of butter.
  • If you do not have a donut pan, you can bake this batter in a standard muffin tin for pumpkin spice muffins.
