Description
Make savory, restaurant-style pan fried noodles in under 15 minutes using basic pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz dried egg noodles or ramen noodles
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions, separated white and green parts
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce (for color)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
Instructions
- Cook the noodles according to package directions until just tender. Drain them immediately and rinse with cold water to stop cooking. Set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the minced garlic and the white parts of the green onions. Stir fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the carrots and cabbage to the skillet. Stir fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften slightly.
- Add the cooked and drained noodles to the skillet.
- Pour the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper over the noodles and vegetables.
- Toss everything together quickly and continuously for 2 to 3 minutes until the noodles are heated through and evenly coated with the sauce.
- Stir in the green parts of the green onions just before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use 1 teaspoon of oyster sauce along with the soy sauces.
- If you prefer more protein, add 1/2 cup of cooked, shredded chicken or shrimp during step 4.
- Do not overcook the noodles initially; they will continue to cook when stir-fried.
