Description
Make these Rosemary Garlic Dinner Rolls for a warm, herby addition to your next meal. They are soft, flavorful, and perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110F)
- 2 and 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons melted butter, for brushing
Instructions
- Combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a small bowl. Let it stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Add the melted butter, egg, rosemary, and minced garlic to the yeast mixture. Stir well.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 6 to 8 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Gently punch down the dough. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a tight ball.
- Arrange the dough balls in a lightly greased 9×9 inch baking pan. Cover and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375F (190C).
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.
- Immediately brush the tops of the hot rolls with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra garlic flavor, you can mix a pinch of garlic powder into the melted butter used for brushing.
- If your kitchen is cold, place the covered dough in a slightly warm oven (turned off) to aid rising.
- You can use dried rosemary, but reduce the amount to 1 teaspoon.
