Description

Make flavorful shrimp tacos using a simple sauté method, topped with a bright, creamy lime crema sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges (for serving)
  • For the Lime Crema:
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon water (or more, for thinning)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp seasoning: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper until coated.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the lime crema: In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream (or yogurt), lime juice, water, and salt until smooth. Add more water if you prefer a thinner consistency.
  4. Warm the tortillas: Heat the tortillas according to package directions, either briefly in a dry skillet or wrapped in a damp paper towel in the microwave.
  5. Assemble the tacos: Place a portion of the cooked shrimp onto each warm tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage and drizzle generously with the lime crema. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately with lime wedges.

Notes

  • For a spicier shrimp, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
  • If you prefer grilled shrimp, marinate the seasoned shrimp for 15 minutes before grilling over medium heat for 2 minutes per side.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter crema.
