- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños, chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat. Add cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth. Stir in cooked onion and garlic, chopped jalapeños, and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper. Keep warm.
- Form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
- Grill or pan-fry burgers to your desired doneness.
- Toast hamburger buns.
- Place burgers on toasted buns and top with spicy queso.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of jalapeños to control the spice level.
- You can use other types of cheese like pepper jack for extra heat.
