These Spiderweb Brownies are a spooktacularly easy and delicious Halloween treat. Perfect for your next spooky gathering, they’re sure to impress your guests with their festive design and rich chocolate flavor. Get ready for some ghoulishly good fun in the kitchen!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup (about 6 ounces) white chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter and both types of chopped chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture and whisk until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  10. Once cooled, prepare the spiderweb topping. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and vegetable shortening. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
  11. Transfer the melted white chocolate to a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a small corner snipped off.
  12. Pipe concentric circles of white chocolate onto the cooled brownies, starting from the center and working your way outwards.
  13. Using a toothpick, drag lines from the center outwards through the white chocolate circles to create the spiderweb effect.
  14. Cut the brownies into squares and serve.

Notes

  • You can add a few drops of black food coloring to the white chocolate for a more dramatic spiderweb effect.
  • For extra spooky fun, add candy spiders on top of the spiderwebs.
  • Ensure brownies are completely cool before adding the white chocolate topping to prevent it from melting too quickly.
