Description
A vibrant and cooling Strawberry Basil Limeade, bursting with fresh strawberry flavor, the subtle aroma of basil, and a zesty lime kick. This garden-fresh cooler is perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 4-5 limes)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Fresh strawberry slices and basil sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the sliced strawberries, basil leaves, and lime juice. Blend until smooth.
- Strain the strawberry-basil mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing gently to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
- Stir in the granulated sugar until dissolved.
- Add the cold water to the pitcher and stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the limeade over the ice.
- Garnish with fresh strawberry slices and basil sprigs before serving.
Notes
- For a less sweet limeade, reduce the sugar to 1/4 cup or use a sugar substitute.
- If you don’t have fresh limes, you can use bottled lime juice, but fresh is recommended for the best flavor.
- For an adult version, you can add a splash of vodka or gin.
