- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Take about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture and flatten it in your palm.
- Place one cube of mozzarella cheese in the center.
- Carefully wrap the meat mixture around the cheese, forming a ball. Ensure the cheese is completely enclosed.
- Repeat with the remaining meat mixture and mozzarella cubes.
- Pour the marinara sauce into a baking dish.
- Place the meatballs into the marinara sauce.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Serve hot, with extra marinara sauce if desired.
Notes
- For an extra Italian kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture.
- You can use a mix of mozzarella and your favorite pizza cheese blend.
