Description
A rich, cheesy, and savory baked dip that captures the flavor of stuffed mushrooms, perfect for serving warm at any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground sausage (mild or hot)
- 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish or a similar-sized oven-safe skillet.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped mushrooms and minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage. Cook until the mushrooms have released their moisture and softened, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, sour cream, heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Fold the cooked sausage and mushroom mixture into the cheese mixture until everything is evenly combined.
- Spread the dip mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and the top is lightly golden brown.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving. Serve hot with crackers, baguette slices, or vegetable sticks.
Notes
- You can prepare the dip mixture up to 24 hours in advance and store it covered in the refrigerator. Add 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the fridge.
- For a less rich dip, substitute half of the cream cheese with plain Greek yogurt.
- If you prefer a milder flavor, use mild Italian sausage or skip the sausage entirely and add 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion with the mushrooms.
