Description

Enjoy the flavors of a California roll in this creamy, baked casserole. It’s a fun, party-friendly way to serve sushi rice topped with a delicious seafood mixture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces imitation crab meat, flaked
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sriracha
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 sheets nori, cut into squares

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Pour this mixture over the warm sushi rice and gently mix to combine.
  3. Press the seasoned sushi rice evenly into the bottom of an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flaked imitation crab meat, mayonnaise, sriracha, sliced green onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Spread the crab mixture evenly over the sushi rice layer.
  6. Sprinkle the panko breadcrumbs over the top of the crab mixture.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
  8. Serve hot with nori squares for scooping.

Notes

  • You can use real crab meat instead of imitation crab for a richer flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to your preferred spice level.
  • For an extra layer of flavor, you can add a sprinkle of sesame seeds to the top before baking.
