- 1/4 cup spicy tuna or salmon mixture (tuna/salmon, spicy mayo, sriracha)
- 1/4 avocado, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon masago or roe
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- Optional: sliced jalapeños, microgreens, eel sauce
Instructions
- Cook the sushi rice according to package directions.
- In a small bowl, whisk together rice vinegar, sugar, and salt.
- Once the rice is cooked, gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let it cool slightly.
- Press the seasoned rice into a greased round mold or shape it by hand into a flat, round disc about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place the rice disc into the hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the crispy rice base from the oil and place it on a wire rack to drain any excess oil.
- Spread the spicy tuna or salmon mixture evenly over the crispy rice base.
- Arrange the sliced avocado on top.
- Sprinkle with masago or roe and toasted sesame seeds.
- Add any optional toppings like jalapeños or a drizzle of eel sauce.
- Slice and serve immediately.
