Description
Enjoy a fun, fusion twist on sushi with these crispy seaweed sushi tacos. They’re a delightful snack that transforms your favorite sushi ingredients into a handheld, taco-style treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup sushi rice
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4-6 sheets of roasted nori (seaweed)
- Your favorite sushi fillings (e.g., cooked shrimp, imitation crab, avocado, cucumber, carrots)
- Optional: Soy sauce, wasabi, pickled ginger for serving
Instructions
- Cook the sushi rice according to package directions.
- While the rice is cooking, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Heat gently until sugar and salt dissolve. Let it cool.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl. Drizzle the cooled vinegar mixture over the rice and gently fold it in with a rice paddle or spatula. Let the rice cool to room temperature.
- Cut each nori sheet in half horizontally.
- To form the taco shell, lightly dampen your hands and take a portion of sushi rice. Press the rice onto one half of a nori sheet, spreading it evenly to cover the surface.
- Carefully fold the nori sheet in half, creating a taco shape with the rice inside. Gently press the edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining nori and rice.
- Fill the crispy seaweed shells with your chosen sushi fillings.
- Serve immediately with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger if desired.
Notes
- For extra crispy shells, you can lightly toast the nori sheets before adding the rice.
- Experiment with different sushi fillings to create your own unique flavor combinations.
- Ensure the rice is not too hot when you handle it to avoid tearing the nori.
