Description
A straightforward recipe for a hearty, cheesy ground beef casserole topped with crispy tater tots, perfect for a quick family dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (about 32 ounces) frozen tater tots
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, milk, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the beef mixture.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the tater tots are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute cream of chicken soup for the cream of mushroom soup.
- You can add 1/2 cup of frozen mixed vegetables, like peas and carrots, to the beef mixture before baking.
- To make this a Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole, add 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion to the beef while browning and use 1 cup of American cheese instead of cheddar.
