Make this Thai Basil Chicken Stir Fry for a quick dinner. It brings a fresh, spicy-sweet flavor to your table fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Red chili, thinly sliced (adjust to your heat preference)
  • 1/2 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 cup Holy or Thai basil leaves, packed
  • 1/2 cup Sliced bell pepper (any color)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Set this sauce mixture aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sliced chili. Stir fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the wok. Cook, stirring often, until the chicken is browned and cooked through.
  5. Pour in the prepared sauce mixture and the chicken broth. Stir well to coat the chicken.
  6. Add the sliced bell pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the pepper is slightly tender-crisp.
  7. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the Thai basil leaves until they wilt slightly.
  8. Serve immediately over steamed rice. You made a wonderful meal!

Notes

  • Use Holy Basil if you can find it for the most authentic flavor. Sweet basil works well too.
  • Adjust the amount of chili to match how much heat you enjoy in your food.
  • This dish cooks very quickly, so have all your ingredients prepped before you start cooking.
