Description

This crunchy ramen slaw, also known as Top Ramen Salad, is a popular potluck favorite. It combines a crisp cabbage base with broken dry instant ramen noodles and a zesty dressing, offering a delightful mix of salad and snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 ounces) Oriental-flavored ramen noodles, uncooked
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 cups coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Break the uncooked ramen noodles into small pieces. Set aside the flavor packet for another use.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, white vinegar, granulated sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. This is your dressing.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, chopped green onions, and broken ramen noodles.
  4. Pour the dressing over the slaw mixture.
  5. Toss everything together until well combined.
  6. If using, stir in the sunflower seeds.
  7. For best results, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • You can substitute other ramen noodle flavors if desired, but the Oriental flavor complements the slaw best.
  • For extra crunch, add the ramen noodles just before serving.
  • Experiment with adding other vegetables like shredded bell peppers or diced celery.
